What is the transformative power of birth?
Inspired by ecofeminism, post-humanism, midwifery and sustainability science, I explore the liminal space of birth. I investigate what is happening in the birthing room between the material and the intangible, culture and technology, what matters and what is forgotten. I ask: what is our cultural relationship to life's regenerative processes? what does birth tell us about our relationship to earth supporting systems?
As a doctoral researcher in the Transtechnology Department of the University in Plymouth, I am grateful to be supervised by Prof. Punt and Dr. Drayson who are guiding me in exploring the interface between Arts and Technology. As such, I am the research fellow for the transdisciplinary project with the Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation and Trust: A co-designing solution to digital literacy in health provision. I am also the managing editor of the Transtechnology Research Reader 2022.
